ADD, ADHD, what is this really all about?
ADD-Attention Deficit Disorder and ADHD-Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder are used interchangeably on this website, referring to the same make-up of many brains in our world today. ADHD is a brain-based (neuro) biological disorder. There seems to be two major components of the brain that affect ADHD: biochemical imbalances anad structural differences. They are known to interact with each other in complex ways.
Individuals with ADHD have unique personalities, temperments, backgrounds, religious beliefs, and educational levels. They are first and foremost individuals and their symptoms vary from person to person. Young or old or somewhere in between, people with ADHD do, however, share a disorder that is commonly characterized by three major symptoms:
Inconsistent attention
Impulsiveness
Hyperactivity
ADHD is like a puzzle. It can be managed and “put together” to fit with your life, your work, your family, your own person.
